Soccer Recap: Golden Valley Takes a Loss

Golden Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Canyon Cowboys. Ava Eilola was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on her (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Golden Valley's goal came courtesy of Eilola, who's now up to 12 this season.

Golden Valley's loss dropped their record down to 10-13-1. As for Canyon, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8-2.

Golden Valley and Canyon could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Golden Valley will take on Saugus at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday down 554 places (600 vs. 46). Similarly, Canyon (ranked 619th) will meet Valencia (ranked 227th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
