Preview: Johansen Vikings vs. Pacheco Panthers
Johansen and Pacheco are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Johansen Vikings will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Pacheco Panthers at 7:15 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Johansen waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 52-34 win over Grace Davis.
Johansen had a senior duo take command as Jamie Zarilla dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds and Bethany Albarran dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Zarilla is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joy Ige, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Pacheco scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They strolled past Beyer with points to spare, taking the game 72-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Johansen is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Pacheco, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Johansen beat Pacheco 43-30 in their previous matchup on January 4th. Does Johansen have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pacheco turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
