Basketball Recap: Ridgeview Comes Up Short

Ridgeview dropped down to 6-5 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They were beaten by the St. Bonaventure Seraphs 82-32. While losing is never fun, the Wolf Pack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the Seraphs are ranked 84th).

Defeat or not, Ridgeview got some senior leadership from Akasia Jackson and Tatyana Spratley. Jackson went 5-for-9 en route to 11 points, while Spratley posted four points. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Smith-Chaplin, who scored four points and six boards.

As for St. Bonaventure, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1. That 50-point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

St. Bonaventure's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sarah Cosio, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 assists. The matchup was Cosio's 12th in a row with at least 16 points. Alynah Leon was another key player, dropping a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Coming up, Ridgeview and Oxnard will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. St. Bonaventure and Thousand Oaks will round out the year against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
