Conwell-Egan Catholic is 1-9 against La Salle College since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagles will square off against the Explorers at 12:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Conwell-Egan Catholic sitting on three straight victories and La Salle College on 17.

Brady Guzzie made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Connor Landau was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, La Salle College faced Neumann-Goretti in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Explorers were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Saints. The result was nothing new for the Explorers, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Caden Schmidt, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kaden Cortez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
La Salle College always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Neumann-Goretti only posted an OBP of .360.
Conwell-Egan Catholic's record now sits at 16-4. As for La Salle College, their record is now 20-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Conwell-Egan Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like La Salle College struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Conwell-Egan Catholic couldn't quite finish off La Salle College in their previous meeting two weeks ago and fell 3-1. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
