Basketball Recap: Sterling Takes a Loss

Sterling was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 53-37 bruising from the Pawnee City Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-47 back in December of 2025.

Pawnee City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kinsley Benson, who shot 41% from the field en route to 22 points. Another player making a difference was Emalyse Gottula, who dropped a double-double with 19 rebounds and ten assists.

Sterling's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Pawnee City, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

Sterling wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-19 defeat against Freeman on the 10th. As for Pawnee City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-32 loss against Sacred Heart on the 9th.
