Soccer Game Preview: Verdugo Hills vs. North Hollywood

The Verdugo Hills Dons will challenge the North Hollywood Huskies at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.

Verdugo Hills will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Poly on Friday. Verdugo Hills put the hurt on Poly with a sharp 4-1 victory.

Sophia Silveira and Amy Valdez scored all four of Verdugo Hills' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 16 goals.

Meanwhile, North Hollywood won against Grant on Wednesday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Friday. North Hollywood had just enough and edged Chavez out 2-1.

Verdugo Hills is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up five goals over those 12 games. As for North Hollywood, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-5.

Verdugo Hills was able to grind out a solid victory over North Hollywood when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 3-1. Will Verdugo Hills repeat their success, or does North Hollywood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
