Baseball Recap: Aquinas Has No Trouble Against Cross Creek

Aquinas's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 19-0 margin over the Cross Creek Razorbacks. The Fightin' Irish might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by ten runs or more this season.

CJ Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Aquinas got a massive performance out of Greg Doman, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jim Franklin, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Aquinas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cross Creek only managed one hit.

Aquinas' record now sits at 10-4. As for Cross Creek, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Aquinas didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 19-8 victory against Burke County on the 20th. As for Cross Creek, they will square off against Aquinas at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Cross Creek has given up an average of 19.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
