Softball Recap: Crete Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Crete had won three straight on the road, but on Friday they bumped up to 26-6 to make it four. They came out on top against the Norris Titans by a score of 5-2. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 7-3 win back in August.

Madynn Dunham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hayley Mattox was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September. Kacey Dunaway was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Norris, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-10. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Norris' side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Embrie Bednar gave up five earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Norris saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Myra Carlow, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Titans beat Crete by a score of 6-3 later that day.
