Recap: Kimball Jaguars vs. East Union Lancers

The Kimball Jaguars lost against the East Union Lancers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Kimball lost to East Union on the road by a decisive 55-40 margin. While losing is never fun, Kimball can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while East Union is ranked 129th).

Kimball's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Coronado, who scored 15 points. Sierra Tuliau was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

East Union got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Donnese Payne out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. Payne is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nylah Dyson, who scored 14 points along with two steals.

Kimball's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for East Union, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 19-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kimball will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Manteca at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Manteca focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. As for East Union, they will head out on the road to square off against Oakdale at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
