Soccer Recap: Half Moon Bay Comes Up Short

Half Moon Bay's game on Tuesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the San Mateo Bearcats. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 847th, while the Bearcats are ranked 420th).

Half Moon Bay has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for San Mateo, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-2.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Half Moon Bay duke it out with the Terra Nova at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for San Mateo, they will challenge Carlmont at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. San Mateo's defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so Carlmont's offense will have their work cut out for them.
