Softball Recap: Riverwood Takes a Loss

Riverwood was the 13-4 winner over Mount Vernon when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Raiders fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 2-1 on Saturday.

Riverwood now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Mount Vernon, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverwood will square off against Sprayberry at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellow Jackets have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Mount Vernon, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Whitefield Academy at 5:30 p.m. The match will give the Mustangs their first taste of in-conference action this season.
