Basketball Game Preview: Garey Vikings vs. Sierra Vista Dons

The Garey Vikings will challenge the Sierra Vista Dons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, Garey was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 40-35 to Duarte.

Meanwhile, Sierra Vista entered their tilt with Baldwin Park on Thursday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They claimed a resounding 54-19 victory over the Braves. 54 seems to be a good number for the Dons as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Sierra Vista found their leader in sophomore Cailei Buna, who went 8 of 14 en route to 18 points. Buna's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Priscilla Dealtan, who posted ten points.

Sierra Vista's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.9 points per game. As for Garey, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.

Garey took a serious blow against Sierra Vista in their previous meeting last Tuesday, falling 57-26. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sierra Vista's Zaira Eulloque, who went 9 for 12 on her way to 23 points in addition to seven boards and five steals.
