Football Recap: Wakeland Skates Past Heritage with Ease

Wakeland barely beat Heritage the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverines breezed past the Coyotes to the tune of 45-0 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won four games by 27 points or more so far this season.

Wakeland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Grayson Myer, who picked up 136 receiving yards and two scores, and also threw for five yards and one touchdown. Jayden Maples was another key passer, throwing for 246 yards and three TDs while completing 81% of his passes.

Wakeland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Austin Liddell and Preston Lowery. Austin Wilson was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Wakeland pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.8 points over those games. As for Heritage, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Wakeland is set to take on their familiar foe Frisco at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Maples and Cobyn Harbert. Meanwhile, Heritage will square off against rival Lebanon Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
