Basketball Recap: Tahquitz Comes Up Short

If Tahquitz was riding high fresh off their 57-36 takedown of Indio last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tahquitz Titans fell 68-61 to the Ramona Rams on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 477th, while the Rams are ranked 231st).

Ramona was led to victory by Jaiden Tibbels and Diana Najera. Tibbels went 10 for 20 on her way to 23 points in addition to six boards and four steals, while Najera dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten steals. Tibbels is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Molina, who posted 16 points and seven boards.

Tahquitz's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Ramona, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.

Tahquitz will venture away from home to face off against Paloma Valley at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Tahquitz is facing Paloma Valley at the right time seeing as Paloma Valley is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Ramona, they will welcome Bloomington at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Ramona's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Bloomington has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
