Basketball Game Preview: Thousand Oaks Lancers vs. Agoura Chargers

The Thousand Oaks Lancers will take on the Agoura Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Thousand Oaks is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season.

Thousand Oaks is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Westlake just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 54-35 bruising from the Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Warriors are ranked 20th).

Despite the loss, Thousand Oaks saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ava Seeger dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Seeger has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Raquel Daringer, who posted two points along with six boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Thousand Oaks smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 20 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Agoura played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Oaks Christian 56-27. The Chargers have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Thousand Oaks' defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-7. As for Agoura, their loss dropped their record down to 11-14.

Everything came up roses for Thousand Oaks against Agoura when the teams last played two weeks ago, as the squad secured a 60-15 win. Does Thousand Oaks have another victory up their sleeve, or will Agoura turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
