Baseball Recap: Lanier Takes a Loss

Lanier fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against South Forsyth on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the South Forsyth War Eagles by a score of 5-4. The Longhorns haven't had much luck with the War Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Zach Diaz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Nicholas Sampona was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Lanier now has a losing record of 3-4. As for South Forsyth, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lanier will take on Seckinger at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for South Forsyth, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against River Ridge at 5:55 p.m.
