Football Game Preview: Pratt Greenbacks vs. Phillipsburg Panthers

The Pratt Greenbacks will challenge the Phillipsburg Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pratt knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Phillipsburg likes a good challenge.

If Pratt beats Phillipsburg with 35 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Greenbacks didn't even let Collegiate on the board on Friday, marking the Greenbacks' second-straight 35-0 shutout. Considering the Greenbacks have won four matchups by more than 34 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Pratt found their leader in sophomore Cade Liggett, who rushed for 207 yards and one TD while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. Those 207 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Liggett. Arley Morrell was in the mix too, providing Pratt with two scores.

Pratt was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 332 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Pratt didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Morrell and Kameron Cox.

Meanwhile, Phillipsburg played in-conference for the first time on Friday and got just the result they were looking for. They slipped by Russell 29-28. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won three in a row.

Phillipsburg now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Pratt, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything came up roses for Pratt against Phillipsburg in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-20 victory. Will the Greenbacks repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
