Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Corona

Corona extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Alex Flores. The Corona Panthers came out on top against the Peninsula Panthers by a score of 49-39 on Monday thanks in part to Flores, who posted 20 points and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Fia Liaga, who put up 11 points and seven rebounds. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in November of 2023.

Corona is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.1 points per game. As for Peninsula, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-7.

Corona will welcome Palm Desert at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Peninsula, they will venture away from home to challenge Torrance at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
