Recap: Mission Hills Grizzlies vs. Westview Wolverines

The Mission Hills Grizzlies won the last time they faced the Westview Wolverines, and things went their way on Friday too. Mission Hills enjoyed a cozy 66-52 win over Westview. Given Mission Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Westview is ranked 77th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mission Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyara Walter, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Trujillo, who scored 11 points.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sarah Heyn, who scored 24 points along with seven steals and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Heyn has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Maren Zimmer, who scored 15 points along with two steals.

Westview struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Mission Hills' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Westview, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.

Mission Hills will head out on the road to challenge Rancho Bernardo at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Lindsay Biddle and Walter. As for Westview, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Poway at 5:30 p.m. on January 31st. Poway will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Westview surely won't give up without a fight.
