Basketball Recap: Santa Ana Valley Takes a Loss

Santa Ana Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 60-9 defeat at the hands of the Villa Park Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 613th, while the Spartans are ranked seventh).

Maria Guadalupe Aburto was Santa Ana Valley's leading scorer, having posted three points.

Villa Park got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lauren Wolfe out in front who posted nine points along with seven steals and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Suriah Auerswald, who put up nine points.

Santa Ana Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Villa Park, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Santa Ana Valley will head out on the road to challenge St. Lucy's at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Villa Park, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Whittier Christian at 10:30 a.m. on December 23rd.
