Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Desert Sunrise). They blew past the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos 53-13 on Friday. With the Golden Hawks ahead 34-13 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Trae Walker went supernova, rushing for 42 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 228 yards and three TDs on perfect 7-for-7 passing. Desert Sunrise's leading receiver Ky'Jaun McCutcheon was Walker's top target yet again, picking up 138 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Desert Sunrise was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 88.7 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five games they've averaged 226.

The victory was the third in a row for Desert Sunrise, bringing their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.3 points over those games. As for La Joya Community, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
