Basketball Recap: Center Cougars vs. Colfax Falcons
The Center Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by Colfax 65-30. While losing is never fun, Center can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 671st, while the Falcons are ranked 62nd).
Center lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aleena Castellanos, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Shirley Boudreaux, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Colfax got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Madalyn Sigrist out in front who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Juliette James was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Center has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for Colfax, they pushed their record up to 23-2 with that win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Center will challenge the Blazers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lindhurst has now lost 23 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 17. As for Colfax, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Bear River will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
