Football Recap: Tatum Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Gateway Christian

Tatum faced Gateway Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Coyotes took a 22-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The Coyotes lost against the Warriors in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 54-0 score last time.

Although Tatum took the loss, they still got scores from Jasiel Esparza and Canton Bolin.

Tatum's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2. As for Gateway Christian, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Tatum will face off against rival Mescalero Apache at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Gateway Christian is set to square off against their familiar foe Hagerman/Lake Arthur at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
