Football Game Preview: Northfield Nighthawks vs. Denver South Ravens

An exciting North v. South battle is about to be fought. The Northfield Nighthawks will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Denver South Ravens at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Northfield earned a 27-14 win over Pueblo East. The Nighthawks' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Denver South). In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 35-34 victory over Vista PEAK Prep. Things were looking grim for the Ravens in the second quarter (they were down by 27) but they stormed back to get the contest.

Northfield better focus on containing Daniel Lucado and George O'Reilly as the pair were huge in Denver South's win. Lucado gained 175 total yards and four touchdowns, while O'Reilly threw for 307 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt. Lucado really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 84 yards.

The win got Northfield back to even at 2-2. As for Denver South, the victory also got them back to even at 2-2.
