Football Game Preview: Maranatha Minutemen vs. Linfield Christian Lions + How To Watch

Maranatha is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. After each having a week off, they and the Linfield Christian Lions will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. Maranatha has given up an average of 26.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Maranatha is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against La Canada two weeks ago (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Minutemen were beaten by the Spartans 42-13. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, the Minutemen couldn't push the score so high this time.

Despite the defeat, Maranatha had strong showings from Cooper Berry, who threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns, and Bradley Loiacono, who picked up 28 receiving yards and one score.

Meanwhile, Linfield Christian fought the good fight in their overtime game against Carter last Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They and Carter were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered a 34-33 loss. The defeat leaves Linfield Christian still looking for their first win of the season.

Maranatha will have to contain Charlie Bohmer as he made an impact in Linfield Christian's last game. He threw for 273 yards and three TDs while completing 78.3% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground.

Maranatha's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Linfield Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Maranatha couldn't quite get it done against Linfield Christian in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 42-35. Can the Minutemen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
