Recap: California Condors vs. Lakewood Lancers
The California Condors waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Lakewood by a score of 40-32. The win was all the more spectacular given California's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Lancers are ranked 85th).
Despite the loss, Lakewood still got an impressive performance from Cristina Jones, who almost dropped a triple-double on 18 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. Jones is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
California is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Lakewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 22-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. California won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Titans at 4:00 p.m. on January 31st. As for Lakewood, they will head out on the road to take on the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Asia Edwards and Nyemah King.
