Basketball Recap: Marion Giants vs. Mississinewa Indians
Marion fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Mississinewa on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to the Mississinewa Indians. The Giants have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Marion saw an underclassman step up: freshman Nyomi Hahn almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. The matchup was Hahn's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Shaniah Scott, who posted nine points and three steals.
Even though they lost, Marion smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mississinewa only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
Jaci Crick was her usual excellent self, going 8 for 17 on her way to 26 points and six boards for Mississinewa. Crick continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Baker, who had nine points.
Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Mississinewa, their win bumped their record up to 7-10.
Marion wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-38 victory against Fort Wayne South Side on the 18th. Mississinewa has also already played their next contest, a 52-25 win against Blackford on the 17th.
