Softball Recap: Resurrection Christian Cougars vs. La Junta Tigers        
        
		
            
Resurrection Christian extended their losing streak  to three  on Saturday, dropping them down to 7-13. They were a single  run away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the La Junta Tigers. Even if the Cougars couldn't come away with the  win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
  Portia Hattig stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 4-for-5 with two  triples, three  RBI,  and one  run.  Layne Tucker was another key player,  going 3-for-6 with two  runs and one  RBI.
As for La Junta,  the  victory  got them back to even at 12-12. With that  win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2  runs per game.
On La Junta's side,  Isabelle Aragon made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out ten batters over  ten innings while giving up just one earned  (and 12 unearned) runs off   five  hits. Aragon has been consistent: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 2-for-6 with three  runs, one  triple,  and one  RBI. Those  three  runs gave  her a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Chloe Numez was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with two  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and two  runs. Those  four  hits gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Madayln Tafoya, who  got on base  in five of her six plate appearances with three  runs, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI.
 Resurrection Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for La Junta, they have already played their next game,  a  15-0  defeat against Eaton on the 18th.
