Basketball Game Preview: Newport Christian Seahawks vs. The Webb Schools Gauls

The Newport Christian Seahawks will square off against The Webb Schools Gauls at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Newport Christian will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Newport Christian beat Samueli Academy 62-50.

The Webb Schools hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Capistrano Valley Christian on Thursday, sneaking past 27-25.

Newport Christian better keep an eye on Pristine Thomas. She was instrumental in The Webb Schools' win, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Thomas is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games she's played dating back to last season. Christina Young was another key player, putting up nine points and seven boards.

Newport Christian's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-0. As for The Webb Schools, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.

Newport Christian was taken down by The Webb Schools 48-18 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Newport Christian was down 25-5.
