Basketball Recap: Raeann Massey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fort Calhoun over Malcolm

On Thursday, the Fort Calhoun Pioneers came up short against the Malcolm Clippers and fell 46-35.

Fort Calhoun lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Raeann Massey, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Maelie Nelson, who had seven points and five boards.

Malcolm found their leader in freshman Payton Dolliver, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dolliver has scored at least a third of Malcolm's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Merryl Paul, who earned ten points.

Fort Calhoun's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Malcolm, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season.

Fort Calhoun does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Malcolm, they will square off against Lincoln Christian at 6:00 p.m. on February 28th. One thing working in Lincoln Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
