Two dominant backs in Macrae Thompson and Armaud Stinfort are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bishop Verot Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Glades Central Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Bishop Verot's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Oasis, posting a 43-0 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Vikings' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 56th, while the Sharks are ranked 381st).
Bishop Verot had a senior duo take command as Alec Dusold rushed for 95 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries and Deshon Jenkins Jr rushed for 92 yards and one TD. Jenkins Jr got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 73 yards.
Bishop Verot was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 240 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Bishop Verot's defense and their five sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Dwyer Camron and Luke Bauer, who each picked up two sacks apiece. Bishop Verot got some further help from Camron: he picked up two sacks and made four total tackles (2.5 for loss).
Glades Central played against Clewiston last Friday and won via forfeit.
A big part of Glades Central's victory came down to the chemistry between Taj Barnes and his top target Algernod Crawford. Barnes threw for 150 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight passes while Crawford picked up 98 receiving yards and two scores.
Glades Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Wade Antoine and Jaylin Bouie, who each picked up one interception apiece. Antoine got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The win keeps Glades Central at an undefeated 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.3 points on average this season. As for Bishop Verot, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Everything went Bishop Verot's way against Glades Central when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as Bishop Verot made off with a 32-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
