Recap: Rio Vista Rams vs. Highlands Scots
Even though the Rio Vista Rams have not done well against the Highlands Scots recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Rio Vista blew past Highlands 51-20 on the road. Winning may never get old, but Rio Vista sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Rio Vista's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Guadalupe Valdenegro, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 steals. That's the first time this season that Valdenegro scored 15 or more points. Samiah Holley was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten steals.
Rio Vista is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Highlands, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10.
Rio Vista will head out on the road to face off against San Juan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. San Juan is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Highlands will take on Creative Connections Arts Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Creative Connections Arts Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
