Preview: Shade Panthers vs. Windber Ramblers
Shade is 1-9 against the Ramblers since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Shade Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Windber Ramblers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Shade has struggled recently with 17 losses in a row, while the Ramblers will arrive with eight straight wins.
On Wednesday, Shade was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-42 to the Rams.
In what's become a running theme this season, Windber gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 52-31 margin over Moshannon Valley. With that win, Windber brought their scoring average up to 50.1 points per game.
Windber can attribute much of their success to Kaylie Gaye, who scored 11 points along with four steals, and Mariah Andrews, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Gaye hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Cailin Jablon, who scored 11 points.
Shade's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Windber, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Shade took a serious blow against the Ramblers in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 54-21. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Shade was down 35-12.
