Preview: Bentworth Bearcats vs. Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers
Bentworth is 0-7 against Chartiers-Houston since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bentworth Bearcats will head out on the road to face off against the Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. Bentworth is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
On Tuesday, Bentworth was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-37 to Southmoreland.
Despite the loss, Bentworth got a solid performance out of Amber Sallee, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Chartiers-Houston entered their tilt with Bethlehem Center with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Chartiers-Houston enjoyed a cozy 51-36 win over Bethlehem Center on Monday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chartiers-Houston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Capozzoli, who scored 21 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Mia Mitrik, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and five blocks.
Bentworth has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Chartiers-Houston, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Bentworth was dealt a bruising 47-15 loss at the hands of Chartiers-Houston when the teams last played on January 2nd. Can Bentworth avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
