Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Chandler's 11th in Last 12 Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Chandler had no problem doing just that on Friday. They never let the Sequoyah Eagles get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 17 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Sequoyah's batters probably weren't too happy with Kennedy Allen, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (she gave up a single walk). Allen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chandler got a big performance out of Blaklei Smith, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Cagle, who went 4-for-5 with two runs.

Chandler hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.

Chandler has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sequoyah, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-20 record this season.

Chandler will take on Latta at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 1.3, the Panthers 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Sequoyah does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
