Football Recap: Strong Performance on D from Andrew Muhammad and Chase Everette Leads Hertford County over First Flight

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northeastern, Hertford County was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 30-14 win over the First Flight Nighthawks. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Nighthawks: they've now won eight in a row.

Justin Bunch had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 261 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 83-yard run.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hertford County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 382 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Hertford County's defense and their eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Andrew Muhammad and Chase Everette, who racked up 6.5 sacks between them. Muhammad also made seven total tackles, which is notable because Hertford County is 4-2 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise. The Bears got some further help from Lynwood Harmon Jr: he picked up 0.5 sacks and made eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Hertford County now has a winning record of 5-4. As for First Flight, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
