Soccer Game Preview: Swainsboro vs. Washington County

The Swainsboro Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Washington County Golden Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Swainsboro came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Savannah Country Day, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Swainsboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Savannah Country Day are ranked 17th).

Meanwhile, Washington County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 5-1 to Bleckley County. That's two games in a row now that Washington County have lost by exactly four goals.

Washington County's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Swainsboro, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.

Swainsboro took their victory against Washington County when the teams last played back in February by a conclusive 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Swainsboro since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
