Bedford takes loss despite strong efforts from Kasey Shuke and Rebekah Costal

Recap: Bedford Bisons vs. Clearfield Bison

The Bedford Bisons pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clearfield. While losing is never fun, Bedford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while Clearfield is ranked 183rd).

Rebekah Costal and Kasey Shuke certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Costal scored 18 points, while Shuke scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Shuke scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Autumn Becker, who scored eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clearfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mia Helsel, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Alayna Winters was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.

Bedford has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Clearfield, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.

Bedford will head out on the road to face off against Greater Johnstown at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Clearfield, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Bald Eagle Area at 7:30 p.m. Bald Eagle Area is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
