Basketball Game Preview: Kern Valley Broncs vs. Rosamond Roadrunners

The Kern Valley Broncs will square off against the Rosamond Roadrunners at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Rosamond will be up against a hot Kern Valley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Kern Valley claimed a resounding 75-22 victory over Frazier Mountain. With the Broncs ahead 43-14 at the half, the match was all but over already.

It was another big night for Ava Elliott, who went 13 for 20 on her way to 27 points and eight boards. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 19 times she's played. Leenah Troller was another key player, putting up 13 points and seven rebounds.

Kern Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Rosamond had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They blew past the Falcons, posting a 57-11 win. Given the Roadrunners' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 480th, while the Falcons are ranked 1327th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rosamond pushed their record up to 19-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.6 points per game. As for Kern Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
