Soccer Game Preview: Avon Lake vs. Anthony Wayne

The Avon Lake Shoremen will challenge the Anthony Wayne Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Avon Lake sitting on six straight wins and Anthony Wayne on four.

Avon Lake is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand Lakewood a 2-0 shutout. Given Avon Lake's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Lakewood are ranked 118th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Guy Goldyn and Alex Soloff scored both of Avon Lake's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 21 goals.

Meanwhile, Anthony Wayne had just enough and edged out Northview 1-0 on Saturday.

Anthony Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 11-6-2. As for Avon Lake, their win bumped their record up to 17-1-2.
