Soccer Game Preview: Exeter vs. Strathmore

The Exeter Monarchs will be taking part in a tournament against the Strathmore Spartans on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Exeter is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Golden West just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They and the Trailblazers finished up their contest with a 1-1 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Monarchs' first draw of the season.

Meanwhile, Strathmore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Monache, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Marauders are ranked 91st).

Exeter's draw gives them a new season record of 3-0-1. As for Strathmore, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4-2.

Everything went Exeter's way against Strathmore in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, as Exeter made off with a 5-0 win. Does Exeter have another victory up their sleeve, or will Strathmore turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
