Baseball Recap: Chamblee Comes Up Short

Dunwoody hit Chamblee with a four-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 5-3. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Houston Buck was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Leo Waasdorp was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those home runs marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Ritchey, who got three hits from his three at bats.

Chamblee's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Dunwoody, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-6.

While Chamblee had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
