Highlands extends home winning streak to six

Recap: Highlands Golden Rams vs. Greensburg Salem Golden Lions

The Highlands Golden Rams waltzed into their matchup Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 54-47 victory over Greensburg Salem. That's another feather in the cap for Highlands, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Greensburg Salem's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Blessing Gantt, who scored 15 points, and Kaitlyn Mankins who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Mankins' sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gia Rosensteel, who scored 12 points.

Highlands' win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Greensburg Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 11-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highlands will take on Oakland Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oakland Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Highlands in Pennsylvania (Oakland Catholic is ranked eighth, while Highlands is ranked 118th). As for Greensburg Salem, they will head out on the road to face off against Freeport at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
