Volleyball Recap: Superior Takes a Loss

After flying high against Denfeld last Thursday, Superior came back down to earth. The Spartans came up short against the Hermantown Hawks on Tuesday, falling 3-0. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Hawks when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Superior was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-19, 25-17.

Isabelle Barker paced Superior's offense, picking up ten kills. Barker got some help from Anna Matthias and her 11 assists. Jazmine Smith controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Superior's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Hermantown, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Superior will take on Nevis in a tournament on Saturday. As for Hermantown, they will head out to square off against Denfeld at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
