Baseball Recap: Nutley Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Nutley extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 15-13. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Montclair Mounties. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mounties apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

As for Montclair, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games.

For Montclair's part, the team relied heavily on Patrick Van Note, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Van Note is becoming a predictor of the Mounties' success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 9-13 when he doesn't). Asher Seawell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, Nutley will take on Livingston at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Montclair, they will challenge Montclair Kimberley Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
