The Van Wert Cougars will take on the Bryan Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Van Wert is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
Van Wert is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against Bath by a score of 6-1.
Easton Putman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Van Wert is undefeated when Putman allows one or fewer hits, but 10-11 otherwise. Putman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other pitching news, Van Wert got a great performance from Conner Harris as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, Harris posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.
Back at the plate, Wyatt Scott was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Brayson Davis was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Van Wert kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bath only managed four.
Meanwhile, Bryan earned a 6-2 win over Wauseon on Wednesday.
Van Wert's victory bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Bryan, their win bumped their record up to 16-11.
Van Wert came up short against Bryan when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
