Baseball Recap: Seckinger Has No Trouble Against Lanier

Seckinger lost to Lanier back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Seckinger Jaguars blew past the Lanier Longhorns 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Harry Pirkle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned runs in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Andrew Carr was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Fernandez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Seckinger hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Seckinger's record now sits at 5-2. As for Lanier, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Seckinger will have a chance to go back-to-back against Lanier: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
