Soccer Game Preview: Sheldon vs. Pleasant Grove

Sheldon hasn't had much luck against Pleasant Grove recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sheldon Huskies are taking a road trip to face off against the Pleasant Grove Eagles at 6:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Sheldon turned things around against Elk Grove on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged the Thundering Herd out 2-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but the Huskies were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove entered their tilt with Chico on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Panthers onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The Eagles wouldn't have won without Kaitlyn Ventura, who scored the game-winner.

Pleasant Grove's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three contests. As for Sheldon, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-7-1.

Sheldon might still be hurting after the 4-0 defeat they got from Pleasant Grove when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Sheldon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
