Ridge View came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against Spring Valley, but Malaya Dewey wouldn't allow it. The Vikings won by a set and slipped past the Blazers 3-2 thanks in part to Dewey, who had 31 digs and three assists. She has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last six times she's played.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (106-98) Spring Valley actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 10-25, 25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 15-13.

When it comes to explaining why Ridge View lost on Thursday, don't look at Taleyah Jennings. Despite the final result, she had 19 digs and five aces.

Spring Valley's victory bumped their record up to 12-18-1. As for Ridge View, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7-1.
