Soccer Game Preview: Atascadero vs. Arroyo Grande

Atascadero is 1-8-1 against Arroyo Grande since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Atascadero Greyhounds will square off against the Arroyo Grande Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Arroyo Grande took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Atascadero, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Atascadero narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Paso Robles 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Greyhounds.

They hit Paso Robles with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Devyn Dutra (2), Abby Winslow, and Audrey Stokes.

Meanwhile, Arroyo Grande didn't have quite enough to beat St. Joseph on Friday and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Knights are ranked 93rd).

The victory got Atascadero back to even at 8-8-5. As for Arroyo Grande, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1-4 and their overall record down to 8-5-4.
